Stearns Kayaks are a household name in the kayaking world. They produce a vast variety of inflatable kayaks and canoes for a number of uses, but where they stand out from the crowd is that they also make kayaks which have a built-in mounting for a battery operated motor.
Their 607-495 kayak has an aluminum mount on which an electric motor is installed. This boat is super easy to maneuver, is extremely durable and, being an inflatable, is very light. It is made from heavy duty nylon and features a special covering which is tear-proof. There are four separate chambers which inflate separately, but very quickly. It also has a storage hatch to hold a 12v marine battery which is easily accessible and easy to open.
The deck of this boat has three elasticized mesh built-in pockets and some waterproof packets for storage of all your needs while out on the water. Strong bungee laces on the deck hold all your other gear. This kayak also features a built-in paddle holder, a holder for your refreshments and molded rubber handles. It is sold with its own heavy duty carrying bag and a maintenance repair kit.
It is to be noted that the trolling motor and battery are optional extras on this kayak. Should you opt for the motor to be installed, it has a capacity of a maximum thrust of 44lbs. Stearns supply a Group 24 battery, should it be required. It is recommended that one not exceed the 400lbs load limit, which includes the battery and motor.
Stearns Kayaks also manufacture a range of inflatable kayaks without motors and batteries, such as the 1K116, the solo Spree, the Cordova and the Yukatat.
If you need a kayak to get into those small creeks and hard to reach areas, Stearns Kayaks are just the job for you, especially if you need to do some research or take samples from the water, and the battery and motor option will make your boating experience just that much easier.
